We have been married for 30 years and have to tell you, watching these has given us our spark back. Following my divorce, and after reading the recently popular book The Game, I spent a few years with the male “pick-up artist” community and took some seminars (as an introvert, working in the software industry, I needed a little help).
While much of the pick-up material was helpful and insightful, it always struck me as odd that so few women were consulted in the process. I mean, if you want to know how women think, feel, and react, wouldn’t it make sense to hear it from a woman? Moreover, I really was more interested in finding one quality long-term relationship, not a series of pick-ups. That’s why I was delighted to come across the “Love Rituals” courses. Joy clued me in to a number of things I hadn’t been aware of, such as the fact that people hear and communicate love using different “languages”, or that biochemistry plays a far greater role in attraction than I’d realized. I feel like I now have a much better roadmap for navigating the tricky terrain of relationship.

Being recently divorced and wanting to make the next relationship I commit to be the one that stands the test of time, I recognized that I could probably learn a thing or two more about what makes relationships thrive. I want to be proactive the next time around and build my relationship on a solid foundation of love, empathy and passion.
I heard about Joy of Romance classes when I caught Joy, the founder, speaking on the radio. I was impressed by her ability to elegantly raise the bar by calling the guys in the listening audience “gentlemen.” Because she expected the best from the men around her, it was evident after getting to know her that she very often receives the best, even from the most unlikely suspects. She encourages men and succeeds at making them want to be the best they can be as boyfriends, lovers and husbands. By attending her classes, I have discovered useful things like how to determine what my love language is and the love language of the women around me. Plus, I’ll never forget the power of a 20-second hug and one of the reasons why women have a biological need to talk more then men.
The way Joy conveys her knowledge about the chemistry and psychology of relationships has given me a whole new perspective and a lot more understanding for the women in my life. I look forward to continuing to learn from various Joy of Romance classes and from Joy’s vodcast series “Intelligent Love: 411 for Men.” The vodcast titles alone crack me up and I can hardly wait to discover more about the subjects she unveils in her weekly vodcast through my subscription to her blog. There is no doubt that having these insights has lead to many fascinating discussions and dates with some incredible women.”

Joy, Didn’t have time to fill out the eval last night, but wanted to get back to you. I can basically summarize the experience in a single word: “exquisite”. Joy, you obviously went to great lengths to make it a special experience - even down to the heart-shaped paperclips. (Maybe it’s too much trouble to go to each time, but I’m glad you did it this time!) Regarding the evaluation questions, I guess the main take-away was the “five languages” concept. Despite all my psych background, I hadn’t heard that one before and it seems really relevant (my “ex” was certainly the “acts of service” type—and that’s near the bottom for me).
Regarding what I’d like to see more of—well, just more understanding about the differing dynamics of men and women. E.g., I met someone a couple weeks ago that I’m warming up to, and it’s been green lights all the way - but now I think I may have spun out over something that seemed pretty innocuous to me. (However, it may just be that it’s a slower process for her—so I’m still holding for the positive.) Keeping romance alive is great, but the hitch is that you have to be in a romance to make that work :-) Fantastic job!!

After attending several classes offered by Joy of Romance, Inc. I decided it was the right time in my life to become the most perfect partner that I could be and I wanted to do al I could do to make my next relationship excel where by past relationships had not. I began working with Joy as my coach. She brought home the chemistry and biology of love for me. Her knowledge on the subject really shined through in the gentle, educational way she helped me see some of my negative patterns and co-created a roadmap to overcome them.
Practicing scenarios of what I could do differently to achieve my desired results really opened my mind to the new way I want to give and receive love. I learned to become attuned to the love languages of others… . I’m now in a new, positive relationship and I know I owe a lot to Joy. Another wonderful surprise is that I’ve noticed all my relationships growing in depth since working with Joy. This is exciting!
